September 22nd, 2016:
Today gave us better breeze out of the Northeast today around 5-10 knots. Definitely saw on the water a bunch of right shifts; unfortunately the first race gave some teams a bit of a tough time because there was a shallow spot on the course with cut off pilings sticking underneath. Todd Riccardi and Sandra Tartaglino both went for a swim when they found that spot and had some minor damage to their boats. Robbie Daniels/Gary Chu were able to break the tie with Todd Riccardi/Bryan Paine; Daniels/Chu now sit in first place with 24 points. The Giuliano brothers had a great day of racing and now sit in second place with 34 points. Luke Ramsey/Sam Carter are currently in third place with 35 points. There is still a bunch of racing to be done come tomorrow and we will see what kind of wind Sandy Hook brings us. Regatta Network Page. Full Results.
Another light air day at F18 nationals. Frustrating was the name of the game. We traded our downwind boat speed from yesterday for upwind boat speed today. Clean air and clean starts were the name of the game, though whenever we rounded in the top 3 we would loose places downwind. Fortunately we were consistent with our finishes and managed to hold on to a couple top 5 finishes to stay in 3rd place. Praying for more wind tomorrow…-Sam Carter
