Notice of Race

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – The Notice of Race for the 2016 F18 National Championships has been posted and registration is open.  The international event, with five days of racing, is scheduled for September 19-23, 2016 at the Sandy Hook Catamaran Club (SHBCC) in Atlantic Highlands, NJ.

Sandy Hook Bay is one of the finest natural sailing areas in the world, experience some of the best catamaran sailing on the East Coast protected by the “Hook”. Racing will primarily be in these protected waters inside the bay and as long as the weather cooperates there will be a 35 mile distance race to the Statue of Liberty and back.

Founded in 1977, SHBCC is the largest catamaran club in the United States, hundreds of catamarans call the club home. SHBCC hosts the annual Statue of Liberty Race, a full local racing schedule, and has hosted numerous Hobie Cat National events. With an excellent reputation for hosting events and social functions, this is sure to be an exciting event. Club facilities include hot showers, bathrooms, changing areas, limited RV parkings with hookups. Nearby Lodging and RV parking is limited, make your plans accordingly.

The view from Sandy Hook Bay features many famous landmarks such as the Verrazano Bridge, Coney Island, the Statue of Liberty, and the New York City skyline. All of these landmarks are a short day trip for family. Downtown Atlantic Highlands is nearby and offers 45 minute ferry service to NYC.
